Ohio gives prediction market licensees until 30 October to confirm compliance
The Ohio Casino Control Commission set a hard deadline of 30 October for all sports betting and fantasy contest licensees to confirm they have cut ties with prediction market operators, interim executive director Andromeda Morrison told the seven-member Commission on Wednesday.
Morrison said the notice follows cease-and-desist letters sent to ten companies — Underdog, Gemini Titan, Coinbase, Prophet X, Novig, Robinhood, Polymarket, Plus500, Moomoo, and Webull — ordered to stop offering sports event contracts in Ohio by 16 October. The Commission issued those letters after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled Ohio could enforce its state gaming laws against Kalshi.
The new notice targets licensed operators providing services to those prediction market firms rather than the firms themselves. The OCCC warned that facilitating unlicensed activity raises suitability concerns and that suitability is a continuing obligation of licensure.
