bet365 launched online sports betting and casino gaming in West Virginia on August 28, becoming the tenth licensed online sports wagering operator in the state.
The West Virginia entry is bet365's 18th U.S. market and its fourth where it offers both sports betting and casino products alongside each other. The company received an interim license in January and was approved for a full annual license by the West Virginia Lottery on July 29.
The launch positions bet365 alongside BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, BetRivers, Caesars, Ember Casino & Sportsbook, Kambi, and theScore Bet in West Virginia's licensed operator field.
Trip Stoddard, Head of Development at bet365, said the company's focus remains on bringing customers the depth and functionality that define the platform, with football season providing the timing for the state entry.
West Virginia is bet365's sixth North American market launch in thirteen months, following Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Michigan, and Alberta. The company has invested approximately $135 million in a 120,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters in Denver and filed an application to enter Massachusetts after the state gaming commission reopened its licensing process in April.
