Crypto-related event contracts on Kalshi and Polymarket reached a combined $2.7 billion in weekly notional volume in mid-October 2026, a record for the category on both platforms, placing crypto second only to sports across both exchanges.
Kalshi's 15-minute up/down Bitcoin contract drove the bulk of that figure. The product alone cleared more than $2 billion in one week. Polymarket's US arm contributed an estimated $92 million to $101 million from its own short-duration Bitcoin markets in its first full week of operation.
The surge sits inside a broader October run at Kalshi. Total weekly contract volume peaked at $19.03 billion in the week of October 5 to 11, spanning all categories. Daily volume held between $3.9 billion and $4.4 billion across the month.
