Polymarket suspended trading on its international platform for approximately one hour on Thursday after a security incident compromised a third-party provider linked to DebugBear, a UK-based website performance-monitoring company.
Trading resumed Thursday afternoon. Polymarket said it had referred the incident to a law enforcement agency in the United Kingdom and committed to reimbursing all affected traders in full. DebugBear's own website went offline Thursday afternoon, and the company advised clients to remove its embed code from their sites while it responded to what it described as an ongoing security incident.
The scope of trader losses has not been disclosed. Polymarket said anyone affected "will be made whole."
The suspension comes as Polymarket operates under a consent order in Michigan limiting its sports contracts and faces a reopened CFTC probe over banned US user access. A platform outage tied to a third-party monitoring tool, however routine in origin, lands at a moment when regulators and legislators are already scrutinising the company's operational controls.
