Saudi Arabia closed King Khalid International Airport and moved Riyadh schools to remote learning on Sunday after Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree threatened further strikes across the kingdom.
The closure followed a missile attack on the airport the previous day that killed 12 people and wounded more than 300. The Houthis claimed two earlier strikes on the same airport during the week but had not claimed the Saturday attack by Sunday morning.
Saree urged "everyone to take our warnings seriously," signalling the group intends to sustain pressure on Saudi infrastructure.
President Donald Trump said he was considering whether to join Saudi retaliatory strikes against the Houthis. If the US enters that fight directly, the Houthis have previously threatened to halt commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which would restrict Gulf oil flows.
