MEXC exits Netherlands and points Dutch users to Bybit EU

Diana Pemberton Political Markets Analyst ·1 sources

MEXC will stop serving customers in the Netherlands by 16 November 2026, the exchange announced, directing affected users to Bybit EU as its recommended MiCA-compliant alternative.

The offboarding follows MEXC's absence from ESMA's register of authorised crypto-asset service providers. Bybit EU holds a CASP authorisation from Austria's Financial Market Authority, granted in May 2025, which it can passport across the EEA.

The arrangement does not transfer accounts or assets. Dutch customers who follow the recommendation must register with Bybit EU independently, complete its identity verification, and move their holdings themselves. MEXC has set 31 October as the deadline for customers to act, with the final offboarding date set for 16 November.

MEXC is the first exchange to publicly name a specific MiCA-authorised destination for departing users, rather than leaving customers to find alternatives themselves. Other licensed platforms have reported absorbing customers from withdrawing rivals without any formal referral agreement in place.

The move establishes a template other non-compliant operators across the EEA may now face pressure to follow.
