Yulia Navalnaya's contract on Polymarket climbed from roughly 5% to a peak between 65.5% and 69% across October 8 and 9, as the Norwegian Nobel Committee prepared to name this year's laureate.
The move was sharp and concentrated. Within roughly one night of trading, Navalnaya — widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in a penal colony in February 2024 — went from a fringe candidate to the market's clear frontrunner. Her contract later pulled back to a range in the mid-20s to mid-30s, still ahead of Ukrainian activist Mykola Kuleba at roughly 13-16% and Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms organization at approximately 12-14.5%.
Total volume on the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize market reached around $30 million. Navalnaya's individual contract drew over $1.7 million of that. No confirmed leak from the Nobel Institute has been reported, and no evidence of insider trading has emerged in the record.
