Amanda Hirsch, the podcaster behind "Not Skinny But Not Fat," posted a since-deleted Instagram reel on Friday framing a Polymarket sponsored contract around the Lindsay Clancy mistrial verdict. The post read: "On Polymarket it was predicted the verdict would be Not Guilty. Are you surprised? #Polymarketpartner." Clancy was charged with killing her three children in 2022.
The backlash was immediate. Hirsch deleted the reel, then posted a grid apology on Sunday with comments turned off, writing that the post was "completely insensitive, wrong, and out of character." Polymarket has not issued a public statement on the partnership or its influencer vetting process.
The episode lands as Polymarket is expanding its retail sponsorship footprint across lifestyle and true crime audiences — demographics with no prior relationship to financial markets. Sponsored prediction content around active criminal proceedings raises disclosure questions that neither Polymarket nor its influencer partners appear to have answered before this post went live.
